‘Mairi-Luise is able to capture the apex of a moment. Using only natural lighting or on camera flash. she perfectly captures candid moments only visible for a fraction of a second.’

Born in Croydon to a Scottish mother and Arabic father she always had an interest in Art.

Only after leaving her art degree at Edinburgh College of Art, did Mairi began experimenting with Photography and taking courses at Central Saint Martins and London College of Printing. She discovered that she had a deep love for the craft and began to pursue it tirelessly.

The backdrop of Mairi’s images are often of famous and unique places including Steven Spielberg’s old house.  Lord Bath’s ancestral home and Frankie’s, Marco Pierre White’s restaurant

Her subjects are of  friends, lovers and models. Never missing an opportunity to capture a new subject Mairi is always on the lookout for interesting individuals to capture in the way only she can.

This year Mairi created a video portrait of Larry Flynt for purple magazine. She had this idea after beginning to create her own short art films entitled  Le Mort joyeux , Luciano and The Unseen, The Unspoken. While in LA Mairi stopped at shamrocks social club to get a tattoo where she met the legendary Mark Mahoney for whom she also created a Video portrait.

Mairi-Luise likes to work with classic mediums where possible often opting for hand printed silver gelatin production. The works themselves have the feel of a film noir almost looking like scenes taken out of context, the air of mystery created by Mairi-Luise is arguably one of the most attractive features of her work one can imagine the moment surrounding the photographs are of pure sensuality and seduction.

Her images can’t help but stick with you the striking lighting and often imperfect subject combined create a real sense of voyeurism.

She is also a widely collected artist collections are held by  Damien Hirst, Lord Bath, Marco Pierre White and Derek Chisora
